The average American throws away between 65 and 81 pounds of clothing per year; this surmounts to as much as 26 billion tons of waste per year in the United Stated for clothing, alone. In partnership with Saver's, R E U S E: Reconstruction Workshops will bring out your artistic side to engage in creative and unique ways to combat waste and promote sustainability.
Bring your old clothing and tarnished fabrics to reconstruct into new garments, create original artwork, donate yoour clothing to the program, or come to discuss ways to further encourage donation, repurposing, and recycling of clothing. The workshop is open to all levels of experience and participation. Students who own personal sewing kits or handheld sewing machines are encouraged to bring them, but they are not required for participation.
Our compaign consists of the reconstruction of 100+ pieces of recycled wear and textiles exclusively recreated and rebranded by participants. All proceeds from the sale of each finalized piece go towards supporting the campaign and furthering the program.
